Barrocade Orchestra, specializing in the performance of Baroque music on period instruments, is delighted to invite music lovers to “Vivaldolina” — a festival of strings!
A concert that is a dazzling celebration of virtuosity, color, and emotion, bringing together the pinnacle of Antonio Vivaldi’s music with the noble sound of the mandolin. For this concert, Barrocade will host international mandolinist Jacob Reuven, together with three of his outstanding students, and the angelic-voiced soprano Yeela Avital.
At the heart of the program is a bold and surprising blend of colors: the mandolins take center stage, replacing the violins in The Four Seasons, one of the most beloved and recognizable works in the world. Classical music is given new, fresh, and brilliant life through the strings of the mandolin, in a special arrangement for four solo mandolins — a spectacular display of technique and musicality.
The concert will also include Vivaldi’s masterpiece Laudate Pueri for soprano and orchestra, in a moving performance by soprano Yeela Avital, as well as a world premiere: the guitar concerto Homage to Soler, composed by Israel Sharon specially for guitarist Hanan Feinstein.
