Leah Goldberg, one of the most renowned Hebrew poets, shaped the soundtrack of Israeli life in countless ways. Her texts, then and now, have inspired numerous musicians, writers, and creators, keeping her words more alive than ever.
Leah Goldberg’s words have taken on countless forms through both classical musicians and popular songwriters, from the establishment of the State of Israel to the present day.
In our program, we will explore Goldberg’s texts through the melodies composed for them. Through the eyes of some of Israel’s greatest musicians, from Marc Lavry, Lior Navok, Moshe Rasiuk, Sasha Argov, to Chava Alberstein, Yehudit Ravitz, and Yoni Rechter.
Tom Ben Ishai (soprano), Tamara Navoth (mezzo-soprano), and Achinoam Keisar Levi (piano) are three musicians from the classical world who have been researching the art song together for years.
