A Lecture-Concert
A fascinating and enriching musical journey that traces the path of Greek music into the heart of Israeli culture—from the Jaffa clubs of the 1960s through the influence of Yehuda Poliker in the 1990s and into the present day. For the first time in the ensemble’s concert series, the program integrates a lecture by musicologist Dr. Asnat Goldfarb-Arzuan, a leading researcher of Israeli song.
The lecture-concert explores how the classics of Greece’s greatest composers reached Israel. The program also examines the distinction between direct translations and the original Hebrew lyrics set to iconic Greek melodies.
Through narration, song, and a blend of early and modern instruments, the performance offers a distinct perspective on Greek and Israeli music, creating a truly unique “Greek Salad.”
