William Mendelbaum is an international pianist. He has performed frequently in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Sydney, and Tokyo…. (Blue Note, Montreux Jazz Festival, Marciac Jazz Festival, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center/Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Kennedy Center, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Blue Note, Dimenna Center Theatre (New York), Birdland (New York), Small’s (New York), Mezrrow (New York), Ornithology (Brooklyn, New York), Ronnie Scott (London), Bimhuis (Amsterdam), Duc des Lombards (Paris), Sunset/Sunside (Paris), All of Me (Tokyo), Jazz à la Défense Festival (Paris), La Nuit des Virtuoses Festival (Réunion), La Seine Musicale (Paris), Pianissimo Festival (Paris) etc…).
A virtuoso, composer, improviser, and arranger, he has given over 700 concerts on five continents. Based in Réunion, he trained with Thüryn Mitchell. He has also attended courses and masterclasses with Shai Maestro, Yaron Herman, Yonathan Avishai, and Jacob Collier.He has released an album in homage to the Louvre Museum, as well as an album in homage to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in collaboration with both museums.

William Mendelbaum has several albums to his credit, the result of continuous research, originality, and creativity. A film composer, he has received several awards for his soundtrack compositions.

Winner of 50 international competitions and multi-award winner, He is a finalist in the prestigious National Jazz Competition at La Défense, and performs at the Jazz à la Défense Festival. He is also a finalist in the Sunside Trophy (Paris) and has been selected for one of the world’s largest jazz competitions, the “Made in New York Jazz Competitions 2023,” judged by Mike Stern, Lenny White, and Randy Brecker.
He has had the opportunity to play with renowned international musicians (Swaeli Mbappé, Benjamin Petit, Jean-Philippe Fanfan, Thierry Fanfan, Roni Kaspi (Avishai Cohen), Amaro Freitas, Christophe Cravero, Russell Hall (bassist who has played with Wayne Shorter, Sun Ra, ), Julien Faulkner (drummer who has played with Robert Glasper, Ornette Coleman, Wynton Marsalis, etc.)).

William Mendelbaum gave a TEDx talk on the power of music in 2023 in Paris. He has also written a book entitled “The Power of Music” and several collections of poems. Passionate about sharing his knowledge, he gives masterclasses, courses, and lectures.
