Bach and Handel—two titans of the Baroque era. Born in the same year, these two German natives took completely different paths. Handel was favored by the public and the authorities. Bach spent his life struggling with illiterate music bureaucrats and the daily grind of teaching. But are they really so different? At this concert, audiences will have a unique opportunity to compare and appreciate them in very similar genres: the flute sonata and the trio sonata. The concert will feature the most poignant and tragic works of both composers performed on authentic instruments.

The concert features the unique timbre of period-accurate instruments—exact replicas of their Baroque-era counterparts. Through the lens of historically informed performance, audiences will experience the music exactly as it sounded in the time of Bach and Handel. All participating musicians are esteemed soloists and laureates of international competitions.
