Ben Levit began studying piano at the age of eight. Before enlisting in the military, he studied with Inna Vladimirov at the Rishon LeZion Conservatory and later with Ron Regev.

He has given numerous recitals and participated in competitions and masterclasses in Israel and abroad. While his primary focus is classical solo performance, he also enjoys playing chamber music and occasionally performs with bands.

Founded in 2012, the Gilad Ephrat Ensemble is a string ensemble dedicated to performing Ephrat’s original compositions.

Drawing on his classical and jazz background, Ephrat has spent years exploring musical traditions from around the world. His journey began with Latin American and African music, followed by an exploration of Eastern traditions, including Turkish, Persian, and classical Arabic music. More recently, he has immersed himself in the music of the American South, particularly bluegrass, which draws on Irish and Scottish melodies dating back to the 17th century, traditional country music, and the rich string-playing heritage of the Appalachian Mountains.

Each of these musical traditions has opened new doors for Ephrat, broadening both his musical horizons and his approach to the double bass. By listening closely to the character and demands of each style, he continually searches for the right sound and expression for his instrument. This exploration has led him to discover new tonal colors and innovative ways of playing, whether plucking the strings or using the bow.

Twenty-year-old Eilon Gvirtzer is an autistic musician with exceptional musical abilities, perfect pitch, and a remarkable memory encompassing hundreds of compositions.

Eilon experiences a fascinating sensory phenomenon known as synesthesia, in which different senses overlap and interact in complex and unexpected ways. For Eilon, music is not simply something he hears. He also sees the colors of sounds, experiences their tastes, senses their temperatures, and much more.

In this unique musical presentation, Eilon’s mother, Galia, who knows him better than anyone, shares her insights into synesthesia and life with autism, speaking with honesty, warmth, and humor.

Accompanied by Eilon’s live performances and guest musicians, the presentation offers the audience a rare visual glimpse into the extraordinary sensory world of synesthesia.

In Classics in the Shadow, familiar music by celebrated composers will be heard alongside hidden, rare, and surprising works that have long remained out of the spotlight and await rediscovery.

The Les Femmes Ensemble was founded in 2025. The characteristic trio-sonata instrumentation—two violins and a keyboard instrument, either piano or harpsichord—provides access to a broad and varied repertoire spanning different periods and styles. The ensemble members believe that anything a woman puts her heart into is imbued with elegance and radiance.

The concert will feature arrangements for Baroque ensemble of well-known works originally written for harpsichord, as well as Johann Sebastian Bach’s Sonata for Harpsichord and Viola da Gamba.

Why did the New Holland Ensemble choose to arrange these works? The harpsichord’s distinctive, intimate sound can be compared to a black-and-white film. The musicians wanted to bring this “film” to life in colour — adding new shades, greater expressiveness and a richer variety of timbres, and revealing familiar music from a fresh perspective.

The Italian Concerto (1735) is a work for solo harpsichord, written specifically for an instrument with two manuals. Bach included it in a collection intended for study and practice, but at the same time it represents the culmination of his many years of work with the harpsichord concerto genre and his exploration of the Italian concerto tradition. Its vivid contrasts and uplifting character continue to delight listeners, while the ensemble arrangement reveals new colours within the music.

Capriccio on the Departure of a Beloved Brother (1704) was also originally written for solo harpsichord. This witty and highly imaginative programmatic work is based on a real event — the farewell to Bach’s brother, who was leaving to serve in the Swedish army. Persuasion, sadness, the postman’s signal, the sound of a post horn, and a fugue suggesting a carriage rolling away into the distance are all vividly portrayed in Bach’s music.

Sonata in D major for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord (c. 1717–1723) is rarely performed, yet it is one of Bach’s finest chamber sonatas. Bright and lively, transparent and profound like a river, it seems to draw the listener along with it.

It is generally believed that the Concerto for Three Harpsichords and Strings, BWV 1064 (c. 1735–1745) is an adaptation of a lost concerto for three violins. A modern reconstruction of the presumed original provides the basis for the ensemble version performed at this concert.

The defining feature of this music is the constant dialogue and interplay among all the performers, not only the three soloists. Virtuosic passages, rapid exchanges and the combination of the brilliance of the Italian concerto style with the depth of German polyphony make this work one of the great jewels of Bach’s oeuvre.
